Junior AV CAD Drafter

About the Role

Granteq is looking for a detail-oriented Junior AV CAD Drafter to support our Systems Engineering team.

In this role, you will convert conceptual audio-visual system designs into accurate, well-organised technical drawing packages. Working under the guidance of senior AV designers and engineers, you will prepare AV schematics, floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, rack elevations, mounting details and as-built documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce 2D AV system schematics, floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, wall elevations and installation details using AutoCAD.

• Place and organise AV equipment blocks, including displays, speakers, microphones and rack-mounted equipment, using company templates and drafting standards.

• Prepare equipment rack elevations based on bills of materials provided by sales and design engineers.

• Update project drawings using site and technician mark-ups to create accurate as-built documentation for client handover.

• Clean and organise architectural CAD backgrounds, including layers, title blocks, sheet layouts, viewports and plot styles.

• Prepare cable pull lists, wire-numbering schedules and basic equipment mounting details.

• Review drawings for accuracy, consistency, alignment, labelling and compliance with company standards.

• Coordinate with AV engineers and project teams to clarify technical requirements and report progress on assigned deliverables.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Diploma, associate degree or technical certification in CAD drafting, architectural drafting, engineering drafting or a related discipline.

• Good working knowledge of AutoCAD, including:

  • 2D drafting

  • Layer management

  • Blocks and external references

  • Viewports and sheet layouts

  • Plotting and drawing presentation

• Strong attention to detail, particularly in drawing alignment, dimensions, labelling and text formatting.

• Basic understanding of technology, electronics or low-voltage systems.

• Interest in learning professional AV systems, including audio, video, control and network signal flows.

• Ability to follow technical instructions and company drafting standards.

• Good written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to manage assigned tasks and meet project deadlines.

Preferred Skills

• Basic exposure to Autodesk Revit or BIM workflows.

• Familiarity with common AV and data connectors such as HDMI, XLR, RJ45, USB and DisplayPort.

• Previous exposure to AV, electrical, ELV, MEP or systems-integration drawings.

• Interest in pursuing the AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist – CTS certification.
